Best ps2 spiderman game

Spider-Man even had the little webbing-wings under his arms, which I always liked. This and the original together were two classics that stayed in my PS1 for many years. I know some folks might disagree with this being so high up on the list, but for me, it was exactly what I wanted. I loved Enter Electro so much and this was more or less that same game, with better visuals and a new Spider-Man. I was also a big fan of the film that came out around the same time, so this was just the perfect game.

Going back to it today is a bit rough, but I still had fun the last time I played. This was the game I wanted Spider-Man 3 to be. It looked nicer, had solid web-swinging, and improved combat.

It was a darker game than previous Spider-Man titles, though going back to it today reveals a lot of the writing to be a little overdramatic. Still, it was great fun and also featured narrative choices and different endings, a first for these games.

Spider-Man 2 on PS2 and Xbox was an amazing game. And while everyone tends to remember it fondly, fewer people talk about the follow-up, Ultimate Spider-Man , released the following year. It used the same engine and controls as Spider-Man 2 , but was set in the Ultimate Spider-Man universe, with a younger Peter.

It also featured comic-book-inspired cell-shaded visuals and was quick to break the fourth wall or make meta-jokes. Some might find Peter too talkative, but I felt it fit the vibe of the game. When talking about Spider-Man games there are two eras. The time before Spider-Man 2 and the time after Spider-Man 2. It was that monumental of a game for the character.

To this day, people still compare new Spider-Man games to this classic released back in When developers talk about their upcoming Spidey game they almost always have to reference and talk about Spider-Man 2 and its amazing web-swinging and open world. The combat is skillful, but fun. It looks incredible too, and has one of my favorite Spider-Man narratives ever, with some superb acting and writing.

I teared up toward the end. While Electro was the main villain, as you may have gotten from the title, it also includes some of the most obscure and often overlooked enemies of the spider. Not to mention the surprisingly beautiful visuals that make it hard to put down. While not strictly a Spider-Man game, Lego Marvel Super Heroes gives our favorite hero a lot of protagonism and lets you swing around New York fluidly just like any self-respecting Spidey game should.

Everything is better in Lego form. You may consider this spot as an all-encompassing entry honoring every time Spider-Man has made an appearance alongside other Marvel heroes in excellent games like the Marvel vs. Capcom series. But no, they really went all out here. You can walk on ceilings and strategically sneak around webbing baddies from anywhere. But battling iconic enemies like The Rhino or taking on Venom to rescue Mary Jane was impressive stuff.

Developed by Beenox as a companion game for the movie of the same name, starring Andrew Garfield as the dark and gritty version of Spider-Man, this might be one of the most overlooked Spidey games in recent memory.

Shattered Dimensions often reminds me of Sonic Generations as it's the best culmination of heroes, villains and stages from the series lore and fan service at it's finest. I suppose that being the case it'd make Amazing 2 roughly like Sonic 06 thanks to it's atrociously convoluted plot though ironically I will say it has less bugs in the game. NovaKaneX 5 years ago 9. Updated September 8, by Tom Bowen: When it comes to superheroes, few are as better suited to video game adaptations as Marvel's Spider-Man. The wall-crawling web-head's ability to swing through the air and excellent combat skills arguably make him the ultimate playable character, which, in turn, has led to some truly fantastic video games. Not all of them have been perfect, but most are at the very least able to offer something unique, which is quite the achievement given just how many Spider-Man games there have been over the years.

Most of Spidey's earlier outings ended up being ported to handheld devices at some point, so it wasn't too surprising when Gameloft released a mobile-only Spider-Man game in Understandably, perhaps, Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem was nowhere near as ambitious as some of the console games that preceded it, but its simplicity arguably worked in its favor. Rather than attempting to create a huge open-world adventure, the developer opted to go down the beat-em-up route instead.

Like many of the great Spider-Man beat-em-ups from the nineties, it features solid visuals, enjoyable combat, and an extensive cast of iconic villains for players to test their skills against. Spider-Man 3 is far from the best Spiderman game of the last few decades, but still gets a lot of things right. For one thing, the sprawling sandbox in which players are placed in is beautifully rendered and provides a level of detail not found in earlier Spider-Man titles.

The combat's decent too and the voice-acting is usually on point. Where the game falls a little short is in its story campaign, which is propped up by a weak narrative and ridiculously short. There's still a lot of fun to be had with the game though, particularly the Wii version, which does an excellent job of integrating motion controls into the classic Spider-Man experience. Those looking for a challenging game may be better served elsewhere, though, for anyone seeking a Spider-Man game with excellent controls and fantastic visuals, The Amazing Spider-Man provides a sturdy option.

Whether through exploring the streets of New York or beating up on some of the city's many thugs, the game makes it surprisingly easy to get lost in Peter Parker's world. As with some of the other Spider-Man games of the era, the game's narrative does let it down a little, both due to its lack of depth and, at times, its repetitive nature.

Some of the side quests can seem incredibly samey too, but, for the first few hours, at least, there's more than enough to distract from this. In terms of crafting a compelling story or showing off Spider-Man's incredible abilities, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is a bit of a failure. However, for those interested in a simple beat-em-up with a massive cast of characters, they could definitely do a lot worse than this forgotten title from Notable for being the final Spider-Man game to use the designs of the Sam Raimi films, Friend or Foe is a co-op brawler that sees Spidey teaming up with both friends and foes to stop a symbiote invasion.

It's designed with younger gamers in mind, but provides enough to entertain adults for a few hours at the very least. Now that handheld gaming is entirely dominated by mobile titles, younger gamers may not remember or appreciate the joys of having a good handheld superhero game. Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace definitely counts as one of those.

A simple side-scroller with great graphics, solid controls, and catchy music, this game might not seem like much by today's standards but was an absolute blessing at the time of its release.
